Free Software Program Suitable For Cardmaking

I have been using this program for over a decade and honestly, I wouldn't be able to make my cards without it.

Avery Design and Print Software is designed for label making but you can just replace an adhesive label sheet with any form of card/paper into the printer's paper feed and print.

You can use any size template for inserts or card fronts. It takes photos or images, creates text windows (circular and square), as well as basic shapes anywhere and it will use any font you have installed on your computer.

I have made many *entire* cards on this, creating *all* the elements and layering them on screen to see the final product before I print. I've put background papers, single colour borders or shapes, toppers and sentiments all in place on screen before printing. I then separated them all back onto the template, with a simple cut and paste to move between labels. Everything is then ready to cut out and stick into place and you know it's all going to work because you've already sized, layered and arranged your pieces beforehand. I never have to redo any of this work again either, I just make sure I save the file and I can return anytime to make another of the same card at any time in the future.

Some of our Facebook Group members struggled with this software, trying to find the right sized template. I've created a table with the most common template sizes a cardmaker is likely to use and their template code numbers. There's now a PDF FILE available that lists all the common card sizes and you can download your copy here.

Update!

I've now created a step by step, photo tutorial to help guide you through the process of making your card design in the online software. You can now follow this tutorial as you create, even if you're on your phone!

  1. This is a game changer! I usually print my images then die cut which is rather time consuming. Thanks so much for sharing which code to choose for each project! I will definitely be using this soon! :-)
