Keeping Scissors Clean

 Keeping Your Scissors Clean

We all have the same problem with scissors, they all get adhesives stuck to the blades. I've noticed that many of you are wasting good crafting time, trying to clean this gunk off your blades.

You can choose to clean adhesive gunk from your scissor blades with many different products that will all work just as well. Things like eucalyptus oil, Un-do, baby wipes, rubbing alcohol, mineral turpentine, even WD-40 will all work.

BUT, WHAT IF YOU DON'T HAVE TO CLEAN THEM AT ALL?
It's what you do with those clean blades that will make all the difference!

Once clean and dry, wipe each side of each blade with your versamark ink pad and wipe off any excess with a clean cloth or tissue.
This will stop the glues from sticking in the first place and you'll get months of use before the glues start to stick to the blades again.

At the first sign of the glues starting to stick again, give them a quick wipe with a dry cloth to remove that tiny bit of glue and just wipe them again with versamark ink pad. You should repeat the application as soon as the glue starts to stick again for continuous adhesive free blades.

I do this all the time and never have a problem with anything sticking to my blades and I never have to actually use any solutions to clean the glue off in the first place!

You could also use glycerin, but it may not last as long between applications.

And, one final tip! If your scissors start to squeak or get stiff to open, try adding a drop of versamark ink from the reinker bottle at the joint. It will work in the same way as oil but won't damage your acid free projects. Again, wipe off any excess before you use them.
