Using Bleach As A Medium
Tutorial: Using Bleach As A Medium
Step by step photo tutorial (image credit)
This technique has been around many years but, for those just starting out, it's likely to be something very new. This technique uses bleach to lift the color from selected areas ofyour project. It's as simple as painting the bleach onto specific areas and allowing it to dry!
You can left colour from certain coloured cardstocks (you'll need to do a patch test first) or colour your own background with dye inks and lift the colour off selected areas.
Once the bleach has dried and lifted the colour, you can then add highlights or shadows with pencils.
Just remember that wherever the bleach lands, it will lift the color.
It's also best to use a brush with nylon bistles rather than a traditional hair brush. You can even fill a dedicated water brush with bleach, just don't reuse that brush with water again. Bleach residue may damage your work when you don't want it to.
